Summer Programme – A visit to Mathern Mill and Sudbrook

The 18th century mill, which probably replaces an earlier mill, only went out of use in 1968 and still contains the working machinery.  The mill is only open occasionally to the public.  Meet at the mill by 10.30am.

Following our visit to the mill we will be having lunch at the appropriately named ‘Millers Arms in Mathern.  This is optional so please let me know if you are coming and send me your order from the attached menu – pay on the day.  We are expected to eat at 1pm.

In the afternoon CAS member Maurice Turner will be giving us a guided tour of Sudbrook – the village associated with the building of the Severn Tunnel.  Meet at Black Rock car park at 2.30pm.

If you are not a member of Chepstow Archaeological Society and would like to join us, please contact our Programme Secretary, Felicity Taylor via the contacts page on this website.
